Those opposing wind power — with President Trump leading the charge — insist that these installations are responsible for bird deaths.
Inexplicably, climate change experts seek to refute that charge by claiming that cats kill birds.

Is the thinking of the wind power proponents confused? Or, are they not acting as scientists, but instead as propagandists seeking to confuse others?
First:
The “research” showing that cats are responsible for the collapse of bird populations is of the obviously lame-brained sort. Cats have been in North America since the time of the Pilgrims. Birds have begun to disappear during the last few decades. Looking at the graphs, anyone can see that the loss of birds is in step with climate change. Why isn’t this immediately obvious to climate change experts?
Birds are disappearing because of cats?

I have wondered if the promotion of the idea of cats wiping out birds is some sort of diversionary tactic on the part of those supporting climate change denial.
Particularly ironic is that Australia — long bent on the supposed protection of the environment via cat extermination — has been beset by apocalyptic fires and floods.

“They kill the birds. You want to see a bird graveyard? You just go. Take a look. A bird graveyard. Go under a windmill someday. You’ll see more birds than you’ve ever seen ever in your life. (Laughter.)
You know, in California, they were killing the bald eagle. If you shoot a bald eagle, they want to put you in jail for 10 years. A windmill will kill many bald eagles. It’s true. “

Second:
Wind power installations as hazardous to birds is its own question is search of an answer. “Go under a windmill someday” to see if that’s true or false. Other ways of birds dying has no bearing on it.
Third:
There is the specific accusation of the loss of Bald Eagles from wind power turbine blades. Clearly, cats don’t hunt eagles. Again, is wind power dangerous to eagles under the protection of federal law is something that should be investigated and shown to be either true or not. Dragging in some worthless paper on cats killing birds is schizophrenic in its incoherence.
